RAY REACH MUSIC NEWSLETTER FOR NOVEMBER 2011

A Big Bama “Howdy” to all my musical friends!

Well, September and October were incredibly busy months around the Ray Reach Studio (aka known as Double-R Studio, aka our living room)! This is just a quick note to keep y’all posted on what’s happening at Double-R Studio and Magic City Music Productions.

Arrangements

Just finished a rhythm section arrangement for Michael Adler at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. I did a little additional writing for the rhythm section on a great new big band arrangement of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” co-authored by Michael and Denver Bierman of “Denver and the Mile-High Orchestra”! This chart will be part of Shades Mountain’s annual Christmas Pageant.

Also, I’m continuing on arrangements for CD projects by Dr. Erline Patrick and Edsel Davis.

In addition, I’m nearing completion of a new arrangement of “Tuxedo Junction” for The Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame Student All-Star Band with vocals in the style of Take 6. BTW, this group was the opening act on a concert with Take 6 back in December of 2010. You can read more about this awesome student group at:

CD productions

I’ve got CD production work progressing for several different clients, including:

  • Dr. Erline Patrick (2 CDs, a religious one and a jazz project)
  • Edsel M. Davis
  • Charla Hammell

  • and, soon, a new CD by Mark Dunn. Fun, Fun, Fun!   I’ll keep y’all posted on the progress.

Fundraising CD for Jazz Education at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame

In addition to the above named CD projects, I’m producing a compilation (or “Sampler”) CD featuring well-known jazz artists. This CD will be sold to raise money for my Jazz Education Program at the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.  Attached below is a letter which tells more about this project.
